What is Information Technology?

• Hagg & Keen: IT is a set of tools that help people work with information and perform tasks related to information processing.
• Martin (1999): IT consists of computer technology (hardware and software) for processing and storing information, as well as communication technology for transmitting it.
• Williams & Sawyer (2007): IT unites high-speed computing and communications for data, voice, and video. Examples go beyond personal computers to include telephones, TVs, electronic appliances, and modern handheld devices.
